Enriching the formal Religious Education curriculum is the prayer and liturgical life of the College. There are many opportunities for the College community to gather together for prayer during the school day including whole school morning prayer and weekly evening prayer at our Residentials.
The entire College community gathers periodically for Liturgies in St Joseph’s Cathedral which is situated next to our Day Campus. Liturgies of the Word are led by both students and staff, while our Bishop, Bishop Brian Heenan or our College Chaplain, Father Chris Schick, lead the Liturgies of the Eucharist.
Liturgies of the Word are celebrated at the beginning of each term and on major Feast Days and events during the year. Significant to the faith life of our College community are our Liturgies of the Eucharist for the opening of the school year, the beginning of the Residential year (held in Our Lady of Good Counsel Chapel next to the Girls’ Residential), the Graduation of our Year 12 students and the special days for our Mothers and Fathers.
The active participation in the worshipping community of St Joseph’s Cathedral is evident through the involvement of staff and students in the ministries at the monthly Saturday Vigil Mass and weekly Thursday morning Mass. Residential staff and students are part of the worshipping community of St Joseph’s every Saturday evening at the Vigil Mass.
The College community is also involved in the Diocesan Liturgies celebrated in the Cathedral.
