2021 CENTRAL QUEENSLAND SCHOOLS REGATTA

On the first weekend of the Term 2 holidays, 5 of our senior rowers competed in the 2021 Central Queensland Schools Regatta held at Bucca Rowing Centre, Bundaberg.

Georgia Slack and Georgia Crighton were the first heat event of the regatta in the Year 11 Double Scull finishing 4th progressing through to the finals.  Merryn Lawrence and Phoebe Doolan in their double heat finished in 3rd place and progressed through to the final. This final saw Merryn and Phoebe finishing in 4th position and the two Georgia’s finishing in 8th place.  Good times were recorded.

Merryn, Phoebe, and Georgia Slack competed in the Year 11 2000m Single Scull events.  Merryn placed 3rd in her heat, progressed onto the Semi-Finals where she placed 3rd qualifying her for the Finals.  Merryn placed 5th in this final event.  Georgia Slack placed 4th in her Single Scull heat and progressed through to the Semi-Finals where she placed 7th.  Phoebe placed 5th in her Single Scull heat.  These rowers performed well producing personal best times.

Year 10 rower, Timothy Connor competed in the Year 10 1500m Single Scull heats and finished 6th in this event.  Tim also stepped up to compete in the Year 11 2000m Single Scull event and placed 7th.  Well done to Tim as he performed well at the regatta.

The last event for the rowers was the Year 11 Schoolgirls Quad Scull.  Merryn, Phoebe, Georgia S and Georgia C  with Tim as their coxswain came 4th in this event.  Well done rowers.

Thank you to the parents who accompanied their rowers to the event. Thank you to their coach Dan Healy for his guidance to the rowers at the regatta.  It was a great weekend of rowing under bleak weather conditions with all rowers flying the TCC colours proudly.
