INTERHOUSE ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
The Interhouse Athletics Carnival on Friday 27 May 2022 is postponed due to the fields being too wet. Friday 27 May is a normal school day with all students expected to attend. The new date for the Carnival, possibly Friday 10 June, will be confirmed soon.
Our first rowing regatta for 2022 was held last Saturday, the Rockhampton Sprint Regatta. As the fog lifted on the river, rowers prepared for the event and had a great day.
This regatta was a Sprint Regatta. We had distances of 500m for a new novice rowers, Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 rowers, and our senior rowers – Years 10, 11 and 12 rowed 1000m
TCC rowing had 10 new novice rowers take to the water on Saturday. They all performed extremely well and should be very proud of their achievements. Congratulations to: Harrison Catargiu (1st in doubles, 3rd place in quad), Isaac Baguley (3rd in quad), Patrick Chopping (1st double, 2nd Single & 3rd quad), Rya Hope (1st double & quad, 2nd single), Madison Bailey (1st quad, 2nd double & 3rd single), Erin Hassall (2nd in single, double & quad), Anais Law (2nd quad, 3rd double), Cate Crighton (1st place in single, double and quad), Hannah Crighton (1st in double & quad, 2nd in double) and Elisa Ivinson (2nd quad, 3rd double). All these rowers placed on Saturday. Well done.
Our Year 8 rowers, Anya Broadbent and Matilda Hodda both performed well on the water, with the girls placing first in their double scull event, and Matilda placing first in her single scull race. The girls also place 3rd in the Year 9 quad race. Hamish McWhirter rowed well in his crews with Harrison for a double (1st) and with Harrison, Isaac and Patrick for the quad event and they placed 3rd.
Our Year 9 rowers performed very well in their events. Dusk Jones (3rd quad), Tyla Barnes (2nd single, 3rd in quad) and Ella Roberts (1st in single & double, 3rd quad & 2nd nov double). The girls also rowed in crews with our novice rowers.
Timothy Connor, Year 11, rowed well and came away with a 1st place in his single scull event.
Georgia Slack, Georgia Crighton, Merryn Lawrence, and Phoebe Doolan, coxed by Cate Crighton, placed 2nd in their quad event. Merryn and Phoebe placed 3rd in their double. Georgia Crighton also placed in 1st place for her single scull events.
Thank you to all rowers for your sportsmanship on the day. Special mention to our seniors who assisted me on the day.
