In an exciting first for the College our junior representative netball team will compete in the Vicki Wilson Shield state championships in Brisbane this week.

The students from Year 7 – 9 qualified after defeating all teams from Capricornia Southern region earlier this year to secure a spot in Queensland’s top 20 teams to compete at Nissan Arena this week.

Their Capricornia campaign results earnt them a place in Pool A up against Xavier Catholic College, Somerset College, Canterbury College and St Peters Lutheran College in the opening rounds.

Co-coaches Kirstin May-Thomas and Brigid Moloney have prepared the girls for this opportunity with rigorous training sessions and a focussed approach despite the ongoing uncertainty throughout the year.

“They’ve been training hard, three times a week since early February and have remained extremely optimistic the competition would go ahead under the threat of a Covid cancellation,” May-Thomas said.

“To further our preparation we’ve played against our QISSN team and Rockhampton Rep 15A side and the girls have displayed their talent, passion for the sport and a strong team spirit,” she said.

The Championships commence on Thursday 2 September with the Finals played on Friday 3 September.  All games will be 4 X 10min quarters. To keep a track of our team check out the Live scoring via the Netball Connect Website. (https://netball-registration.worldsportaction.com/liveScoreSeasonFixture)
