QCT TeachX Award Winner
Congratulations to one of our own, Grace Griffin, who has won a highly prestigious teaching award, taking the The Dr Joe McCorley OAM Outstanding Contribution to School Community QCT TeachX Award.
With approximately 121,846 teachers registered with QCT this is an incredible accomplishment and reflects her excellence and compassion in teaching that extends well beyond the classroom walls.
Although still early in her teaching career, Grace has already become known for the way she creates connection, fosters belonging and opens doors of opportunity for students, staff and families. Whether she is leading service initiatives, strengthening community partnerships, or championing student wellbeing through sport and pastoral experiences, Grace leads with authenticity, courage and heart.
A standout example of Grace’s commitment to social responsibility is her long-standing leadership of the College’s annual “Share the Dignity” staff drive. Since 2018, Grace has coordinated staff contributions to the “It’s In The Bag” campaign, supporting women experiencing homelessness or domestic violence through the donation of essential personal care items.
Grace’s contribution to student life is equally evident in her leadership of girls’ AFL. Working closely with community partners over several years, Grace has helped grow female participation at a critical age when many young people step away from sport.
Grace brings the same dedication to learning and wellbeing through her commitment to evidence-informed practice, including commencing a Master of Educational Neuroscience. She has translated this learning into practical support for families through Middle School Parent Engagement sessions, equipping parents and carers with accessible strategies to understand and support adolescents during a formative stage of development.
Grace shines in her service for others coordinating the annual Sony Camp, a children’s holiday respite program where senior students support children with disabilities while offering families valuable rest time. Through Sony Camp, Grace helps students encounter service in a deeply personal and transformative way — living out the College values of compassion, respect and gratitude through authentic relationships and meaningful contribution.
Grace is a sixth-year teacher who has built strong relational trust with students through formative experiences such as the Year 9 Girls’ Survivor Camp. Her impact was powerfully affirmed when a recent College Captain referenced this experience in her Graduation Mass speech, naming it as pivotal in her personal growth — a moment that speaks volumes about the enduring influence Grace has on young people.
Grace’s recognition through the Dr Joe McCorley OAM Outstanding Contribution to School Community Award is a celebration of the very best of Catholic education: educators who shape hearts as well as minds, and who help young people and communities flourish.
