Last term, Year 10 student Patrick Chopping proudly represented TCC at the Harvard Model United Nations Australia (HMUN) annual international conference in Sydney – the largest Model UN in the southern hemisphere, hosted by current Harvard University students. Patrick joined over 500 students from around the world, each representing a country and serving on a UN-style committee.
As a delegate for the Australian Team, Patrick represented the Democratic Republic of Congo on the Legal Counsel. Alongside 22 other delegates, he worked on critical global issues, including the responsibilities of multinational tech corporations in upholding human rights within their supply chains, and the role of UN member states in enforcing consistent human rights standards. His hard work paid off – his resolution passed with a two-thirds majority, and he received a certificate of participation for his efforts.
In addition to this achievement, Patrick also completed valuable work experience at a local law firm, which generously contributed towards his upcoming trip to the USA. Thanks to their support, Patrick is now preparing to attend up to five international Model UN conferences in January and February 2026, where he will compete alongside thousands of students from across the globe.
A huge thank you to the firm for their support, and once again – congratulations and best of luck, Patrick! We can’t wait to hear about your journey and future success!!
